Quilled Lord Ganesha

During the time I was away from blogging we moved so, before leaving our old place I presented this quilled piece of "Ganesha" to my landlord's family.

The entire project was quilled using 1/8th inch strips of paper.

I first enlarged the picture to the canvas size I want to quill on, and made few subtle changes before tracing it. I then went on to attach the paper strips on the outline.

For the ornaments on the ear, I made a tight roll using ivory colored strips of paper and then painted it gold.

A black colored marquise with a brown colored loose coil at its center forms the eye of "Ganesha".

The interior part of the picture was quilled using beehive technique by Susan.
